I was happy to come across your blog as I too am a scientist interested in fractals/chaos/emergence as well as the overlap of science and religion.
Are you familiar with Chet Raymo? If not, I am sure you will want to read him. He grew up in an intensely cathloic household and became a scientist, as did I. He has also spent considerable effort in trying to reconcile spirituality and science, again, as have I. Where we diverge is that he is not only a better scientist but also much more eloquent! Today's posting is especially nice, in which he discusses Anita Diamant's wonderful novel, The Red Tent: http://www.sciencemusings.com/blog/
I am looking forward to more of your thoughts on emergence...
